GALLERY
Established in 2006, PATRICK MIKHAIL has emphasized a complete engagement in its artists' professional practices, and a commitment to launching new and relevant bodies of work by women artists. Through its curated program of solo and group exhibitions, special projects, curatorial and academic collaborations, off-site projects, participation in international art fairs and festivals, and through its vital relationships with museums, institutions, corporate collections, and private collectors, the gallery has promoted and nurtured the careers of a new generation of international contemporary artists. Artists whose practices have investigated a full range of contemporary issues and ideas, and have incorporated painting, photography, installation, performance, sculpture, drawing, film, video, and new media.

In addition to being generously supported by its corporate clients in the financial, legal, design, technology, and new media sectors, the gallery has placed artists' works in numerous institutional collections including: Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MAC), National Gallery of Canada, Caisse dépot et placement du Québec (CDPQ), Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ), Global Affairs Canada, Canada Council Art Bank, City of Ottawa Art Collection, Ottawa Art Gallery, Nova Scotia Art Bank, National Portrait Gallery, BMO Bank of Montreal, Hydro Québec Collection, Desjardins Collection, Banque Nationale and Ryerson Image Center (RIC). Collectively, the gallery's artists have been the recipients of a wide range of prestigious awards, grants, scholarships, residencies, and public art commissions, and have included numerous winners and nominees for awards such as the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts Grant, The Prix Lynne Cohen/Lynne Cohen Prize, Joan Mitchell Foundation Award, Joan Mitchell Foundation Artist in Residence Award, MASS Moca Residency, ICA New York Residency, Swiss Arts Awards, Sobey Art Award, the BMW Contact Photo Prize, the RBC Canadian Painting Competition, the Council for the Arts in Ottawa Mid-Career Artist Award, RBC Emerging Artist Award, the Karsh Award, Canadian Centre for Architecture Prize, Roloff Beny Prize, Mois de la Photo a Montreal Prize, Ontario Association of Art Galleries Award, Magenta Foundation Flash Forward Awards, Santa Fe Prize for Photography, and the Heinz Jordan Painting Award. Essays, reviews, and critical discourses have appeared in numerous national and international magazines, publications, and journals including ARTFORUM, Canadian Art, Border Crossings, Ciel Variable, ESSE, Whitehot Magazine, Vie des Arts, Prefix Photo, Camera Austria, C Magazine, Journal of the Canadian Medical Association, Globe and Mail, ISSUES in Science and Technology, Afterimage, Next Level (UK), and EYEMAZING magazine.

Patrick Mikhail and its artists have exhibited at numerous prestigious international art fairs including multiple editions of The Armory Show New York, NADA, Volta New York, Volta Basel, Spring Break Art Show NYC, Papier Montreal, PLURAL, and Art Toronto.

Patrick Mikhail is currently a member of the Board of Directors of AGAC (Association des galeries d'art contemporain/Contemporary Art Galleries Association) in Canada and has been on the oranization's Board of Directors since 2010.
