PATRICK MIKHAIL GALLERY is pleased to announce DEBORAH MARGO will be unveiling a new public art commission created for the City of Ottawa

Councillor Chernushenko and the City of Ottawa’s Community Arts Program invite you to the official unveiling ceremony of For Everyone a Garden, a new public art commission by Deborah Margo, created for the Ottawa South Community Centre.

Unveiling Ceremony: Thursday, November 24, 2011
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Unveiling at 6:15 p.m. )
Location: Ottawa South Community Centre, 260 Sunnyside Avenue

Deborah Margo’s sculptural work, For Everyone a Garden, celebrates the conversation between the past and present architectural identities of the Ottawa South Community Centre. Suspended in front of the original fire station doors, the underlying concepts in For Everyone a Garden are those of growth and change. This transformation is highlighted by the unsealed copper surfaces of the panels which will deepen in tone and, in areas, turn green over time.

In collaboration with members of the Ottawa South community, Margo developed the imagery which was embossed and punctured onto the panels. Collected in an accompanying archive, the source imagery for the artwork focuses on local gardens and recreational spaces.
