We are pleased to announce PMG artist JENNIFER LEFORT will appear in the Canadian Art Foundation's annual Gallery Hop Gala Dinner and Auction, which will be held on September 18 in Toronto's Kool Haus. The night will begin with cocktails, followed by dinner and the live auction of works by forty-nine of Canada's most inspiring artists. Funds raised from the event will be used to support programming initiatives of the Canadian Art Foundation, including free gallery tours for high-school students, compelling lectures by leading art experts, and the publication of Canadian Art, now celebrating its thirtieth year as Canada's most widely read art magazine.
JENNIFER LEFORT's paintings embody a fresh approach to abstraction, and a keen ability to bring gesture, form, and colour together in graceful and original choreography. Her deft mark-making leads the viewer around her compositions, leaving them to question the image's content. Never random or vulnerable, her large and immediate gestures are firmly selected and composed, meeting in strategic and interesting ways, forming strong and sometimes comical relationships. Lefort's professional practice has revolved around her interest in exploring abstract painting and developing a personalized language within it, in which gestures resemble logos and colours are language.
