Art in Unexpected Places – and a beer bus to get you there!

It’s summer, it’s hot, and Sunday Drive is back! Although we love Toronto – who doesn’t need to get out of town every now and then, especially during the dog days of summer? With the city as busy as it’s ever been Sunday Drive Art Projects is taking a break from the bustle to return to Warkworth and we want you to come with!

Sunday Drive presents Warkworth is a 16-day arts festival that presents the work of artists chosen by artist-run centres, collectives and alternative exhibitors that typically operate in metropolitan areas. The  festival explores contemporary themes and provides artists a chance to push the scope and perspective of their work in a rural setting, many for the first time!

This year’s line up includes: Basil AlZeri, Dean Baldwin, Onyeke Igwe and Felix Kalmenson, Sean Martindale, Randall Okita, Oliver Pauk and Michael Vickers, Max Streicher, Studio 835 Collective, and Diana Lynn Vandermeulen.

Come out for our Opening Kick Off on August 15th and see the main street of the town transformed into a hub of contemporary art! Our Opening Kick Off features performances by Randall Okita and Felix Kalmenson as we take over barns, creeks and storefronts with an array of new media presentation, installations, and site specific pieces.

Need a ride? No problem! Take our bus up to Warkworth, it’s an easy way to get to the show and back and have a load of fun doing it.  Tickets are $25, complete with free snacks, unlimited complimentary beer – since you’re not driving, right? – and of course, a few artistic surprises.

We leave Toronto’s west end – 87 Wade Avenue (near Lansdowne subway station) – at 4pm and return by midnight.

The bus is going to be a blast so bring friends and enjoy yourself on the ride, that’s what it’s for. After all, who doesn’t love a road trip? And it’s even better when we’re the designated driver! A limited number of bus tickets are available now, so buy early.

If you can’t join us for the Opening Kick Off, you still have time to catch the show.
