MICHELE PROVOST and JONATHAN HOBIN to appear in J'ADART a $20,000 fundraising event for the OTTAWA SCHOOL OF ART

The Ottawa School of Art is pleased to announce its 2012 fundraising event J’adart! at the National Arts Centre, an evening for the OSA Outreach Program, on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the NAC at 53 Elgin Street. Guided by their motto “Teaching art to everyone”, the OSA has been Ottawa’s leading centre for visual arts education in the region since 1879.

In their 7th year of hosting their annual fundraiser, J’adart! has a target of raising $20,000 and much needed promotion for their Children and Youth Outreach Program. As a not-for-profit school, the OSA provides barrier-free art classes to hundreds of children and youth each year through their Outreach and Bursary Programs. Join them and demonstrate your commitment to supporting arts and culture in Ottawa.

J’adart! is taking on a “Paris Bohemia” motif to the evening; the cocktail party will take place on Thursday, May 3, 2012, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the National Arts Centre. Alan Neal, journalist and CBC host, and Julie Nesrallah, acclaimed mezzo-soprano will host and emcee this intimate and always lively event. The OSA will invite distinguished and dedicated art patrons; past Board of Directors Presidents; embassies; federal and provincial government leaders; and prominent social figures. With live music, arts activities, and delicious hors-d’œuvres, it will be an exciting night supporting arts and culture in Ottawa. There is no denying that studying visual art provides unique ways of knowing, doing, being, and learning for all students. Children living in poverty deserve access to quality visual arts instruction taught by professional art teachers. The OSA needs your support to help them enrich lives of these children and help them continue their programs for children in need.

Established in 1879, the OSA is the leading centre for visual arts education and creative expression in the Ottawa region. The OSA fulfills its vision of making ‘Teaching art to everyone!’ a reality by providing accessibility to quality programming through its outreach, gallery, bursary and scholarship programs.
