THOMAS KNEUBÜHLER AT ART BASEL ART WEEK

PATRICK MIKHAIL GALLERY is pleased to announce artist THOMAS KNEUBÜHLER has been selected a winner at the prestigious Swiss Arts Awards 2012. The awards are part of Art Basel Art Week

The Swiss Art Awards form part of Switzerland’s oldest and most renowned art competition. The competition was first held in 1899 as a selection process for scholarships to study abroad. Over time, it has evolved into a prestigious national prize competition.

The Swiss Art Awards are organised by the Federal Office of Culture and held in conjunction with Art Basel in Hall 4 of Messe Basel. This year, 67 contemporary works are on display which the Federal Art Commission and the Jury of the Kiefer Hablitzel Foundation have selected from approximately 800 submissions. The works are complemented by five architectural projects – also presented on site in the form of installations – and by the entries of 27 Swiss art and architecture critics. From within this field, the Federal Art Commission and the Kiefer Hablitzel Jury selected the prize winners.

Art Basel is the world's premier international art show for Modern and contemporary works. Art Basel features nearly 300 leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. More than 2,500 artists, ranging from the great masters of Modern art to the latest generation of emerging stars, are represented in the show's multiple sections. The exhibition includes the highest-quality paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations, photographs, video and editioned works.
