We are pleased to announce PMG artist THOMAS KNEUBÜHLER will be participating in Les Rencontres Internationales: Nouveau Cinéma et Art Contemporain, taking place from December 1 to 7, 2014, in Paris, France.
KNEUBÜHLER will be screening his latest video, FORWARD LOOKING STATEMENTS, on Thursday, December 4. In conjunction with Les Recontres Internationales, the Centre Cultural Canadien, part of the Canadian Embassy in France, will be screening two of Kneubühler's videos as part of *Canada Off*, a short film programme that also includes the work of Steve Reinke, Aleesa Cohene, and Isabelle Hayeur.
From December 1 to 7, 2014, Les Rencontres Internationales in Paris will create a space of discovery and reflection focused on new cinema and contemporary art, for 7 days at Gaîté lyrique and in other venues.
In the presence of artists and filmmakers from all over the world, this rare event will propose an international programme of film, video, multimedia, gathering 120 works from 40 countries, works by acknowledged artists along with young artists presented for the first time. It includes screenings - Premières, cartes blanches, video programme, etc. -, special events, multimedia concerts, panel discussions and a forum in the presence of art centre and museum directors. curators, artists and distributors who will share their experience and concerns about current moving image practices.
Les Rencontres Internationales offers more than just a simple presentation of the works. It introduces an intercultural forum gathering various guests from all over the world - artists and filmmakers, institutions and emerging organizations - to testify of their reflections and their experiences, but also of artistic and cultural contexts that are often undergoing deep changes. Les Rencontres Internationales reflects specificities and convergences of artistic practices between new cinema and contemporary art, explores emerging media art practices and their critical purposes, and makes possible a necessary time where points of view meet and are exchanged.
Du 1er au 7 décembre 2014 à Paris, les Rencontres Internationales créeront pendant 7 jours à la Gaîté lyrique et sur d'autres lieux, un espace de découverte et de réflexion entre nouveau cinéma et art contemporain en présence d'invités du monde entier.
En présence d’artistes et de réalisateurs du monde entier, cette édition exceptionnelle proposera une programmation internationale inédite - film, vidéo, multimédia - réunissant 120 oeuvres provenant de 40 pays, des artistes et réalisateurs reconnus sur la scène internationale aux côtés de jeunes artistes et de réalisateurs présentés pour la première fois : des projections en salle - de nombreux films en première, des cartes blanches, une programmation vidéo -, des concerts multimédias, des tables rondes et un forum en présence de directeurs de centres d’art et de musées, curateurs, artistes et distributeurs, qui partageront avec le public leur expérience et leur réflexion sur les nouvelles pratiques audiovisuelles et leurs enjeux.
Plus qu'une simple présentation d’œuvres, les Rencontres Internationales proposent un véritable forum interculturel, en présence d'invités du monde entier, artistes et réalisateurs, responsables d'institutions et de structures émergentes. Les Rencontres Internationales rendent compte des spécificités et des convergences des pratiques artistiques entre nouveau cinéma et art contemporain, explorent les formes artistiques émergentes et leurs propos critiques et permettent ce temps nécessaire où les points de vue se croisent et s'échangent.
